This Fun comp was a blast. Unfortunately David took a frontal low and sustained some serious unjuries requiring surgery. A link to donate to help out in on paragliding forum.
Charlie and myself had some amazing flights!! David is right that it's some of the best flying in the US that time of year. We flew everyday! Awesome flatland flying up to 7k AGL. My best day this year was a 5+ hr flight to just short of goal, somewhere around 60k. Charlie had a 3hr flight around 40k. Sweet boomin thermals everyday with plenty of turkey vultures to help out. Then a couple days of SIV over water the following weekend too!!!!We will definitely be heading back next year!!!
APRIL 26th THRU MAY 9th 2009 XC and FUN Comp!!.
One week XC and competition preparation course with former world team pilot David Prentice, who just placed 20th in the DEC 2008 Monarcha Competition!!!! Join David and crew and get unlimited XC and comp coaching on everything from equipment, vario/gps, route methodology, speed to fly, XC, XC XC tips ect, a lot of while you're flying next to your coach on radio and/or tandem. David and crew have been doing this in Florida for over ten years and have had countless pilots breaking their personal bests every year. Reliable tow up and GO WX conditions.
MAY 3RD THRU THE 9TH
One week of unsanctioned competition where they are not in the comp but flying with you and helping you get competition ready!
JOIN FOR AS MUCH OF EITHER WEEK AS YOU WANT. See below for the post off of Davids earthcog.com site. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` I wanted to announce this years Florida Spring Fling, This will be the fourth year we have held this event in south Florida, last years draught conditions proved to be excellent with 6 rounds flown.
Terry Bono flew 432 kms over those 6 flights, but more notable was Alek B who arrived with only two hours experience in a PG and over 6 flights he managed 160 kms x-c and setting his PB at 60 kms winning task 5.
Our fall trip to Florida showed that draught conditions are still persisting in Florida which makes for some great x-c conditions.
This event is a fun (trainer)comp designed for newer pilots who want to improve thermal and x-c skills in a low stress enviornment. The event is based on a x-c clinic format with daily pre and post flight briefings. Pilots will fly race to goal and open distance tasks, using a GPSfor flight verification.
Comp details:
Location:Florida ridge flight park May 3rd thru May 8th. Entry fee: $200.00usd includes: briefings, retrivals, scoring. towing is not included $10usd per tow Limit: 50 pilots contact:David Prentice earthcog@yahoo.com or 505-720-5436
