Safety Clinics are a big part the Desert Wind way. I have BBQ and reserve toss simulations on my streamline cable in my backyard not to mention ground school classes. Pilots come over and advance their training in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.

If you do not get a minimum of 4 tows you get a credit for another FULL DAY tow clinic. This years clinic will also have a much more detailed and thorough group discussion/question/answer classes for topics such as: collapses, collapse recovery techniques, deflations, cascades, XC, WX, ect..because there has been such a high demand for this lately, during the off tow time, we will pre-schedule these classes and will be covering everything from Pre-Flights to Aerobatic maneuvers.

Towing is good for training brand new pilots along with training experienced pilots looking to take it to the next level. It's also good for the pilot who just pulled their wing out of the closet after a long time to help refresh their learning and update them on the current techniques and equipment.
There is no better way than OVER THE WATER SAFETY CLINICS to create a safe atmosphere for students of all levels to get more intimate with their wing and the dynamics of flight.
Desert Wind Paragliding was the first paragliding school in AZ to have a world renowned advanced maneuvers coach come to tow and train students and pilots in AZ. We do an Over the Water Safety clinic for beginner pilots and an advanced acrobatic clinic for pilots of all levels at Lake Roosevelt every year and there will be XC off tow clinics starting in 2009.
For the advanced pilot there is no better way to get to practice ACRO flying.
I am "ST" tow rated and have been towing and working on advanced maneuvers for over 5 years now.

I
continually further my students knowledge and Love for this incredible
sport with ground school classes, reserve simulations and re-packs,
thermal clinics, XC (Cross Country) guiding, WX theory, tours to new
flying sites, and also attitude appreciation. The greatest feedback I
get from students/my friends is how I constantly show them how
important it is to be in "the right place" to fly.
Did we get enough sleep?
Did we eat enough?
Are we still at work?
Are we psyched to be here?
Are we in the right place to fly?
So
along the way this sport has us overcoming a lot of our personal
challenges together so that we can show up with the attitude that
separates great pilots from great happy pilots that are just awesome to
be around.
And creates a community that has a great time, whether we
fly or not ,when we go to these amazing places in nature on this
incredible earth.
And that is the Desert Wind Paragliding Group.
