My name is Chandler Papas and I am an USHPA (United States Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association) certified Advanced instructor (# 81661) whose passion is to do exactly that. I help people on their Journey of becoming complete paragliding pilots. I've learned that individually paced skills mastery teaching creates a safe atmosphere and produces safe, aware and respectful pilots.
I have been fortunate enough to have had some of the best in the world teach me and continue to today. I learned right here in Arizona from former world team pilot David Prentice, the late great Dixon White and also Dustin Martin. I quickly learned to respect the ever changing and unpredictable weather of the southwestern desert and high desert. From Scott Harris and Matt Colmbs in Jackson Hole Wyoming with "Tow Tuesdays" beginning my love for the incredible world of ACRO flying and XC, to the endless towing which enabled me to become the first Instructor in Phoenix with an "ST" rating and endless mentoring from countless incredible pilots, to my tandem training starting with Pete Michelemore of Gravity Hawaii where I fly and offer paragliding tour guide trips throughout the year. My teachers have been incredible so I have an incredible respect for this sport and the incredible weather we get to indulge our selves into.
Now I primarily further my training with the renowned Chris Santacroce of SuperFly. And of course by cultivating respectful safe and aware pilots I further my learning of this incredible sport almost everyday.
I have flown in numerous countries and have logged thousands of flights in all kinds of conditions and am working on breaking my personal XC record of 39 miles. I am also as My students/friends like to say "The instructor in town who likes to throw down" and am anxiously awaiting getting over water again this summer in Wyoming, Utah and then AZ in November to help with the safety courses for my students and also work on my dynamic SATS', and other ACRO fun.
My passion today is to cultivate respectful aware pilots who have great attitudes and know how to fly safely, and confidently in whatever kinds of dynamic and demanding conditions anywhere in the world they choose to. And, have a whole lot of fun doing it.
